Mr. Ussama Osman

Representative and Director of the World Food Programme in Côte d'Ivoire

Mr. Ussama Osman was appointed Representative and Director of the World Food Programme in Côte d'Ivoire in November 2020. Originally from Sudan, Ussama has 24 years of experience with WFP, where he began his career at headquarters in Rome. Originally from Sudan, Ussama has 24 years of experience with WFP, where he began his career at Headquarters in Rome as a Conference Officer until his last post as Director and Deputy Secretary of the WFP Executive Board (2016 to 2020). Between the two assignments, Ussama held various operational and managerial positions in Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, at the
United Nations Headquarters in New York, Guinea Bissau and more recently in The Gambia. He received a Ph.D in social sciences from the Sorbonne University, Paris, a master's degree from the Lumières University of Lyon/France and a B.A and a Master's degrees from the University of Khartoum/Sudan.
